THE CANINE HEALTH INFORMATION CENTER

Picture
1966, our mission is to promote the health and welfare of companion animals through a reduction in the incidence of genetic disease. The OFA website and databases provide the tools, whether you are a veterinarian, breeder, or prospective owner.

The Alaskan Malamute is a hardy and generally healthy breed with an approximate lifespan of 12-14 years. Responsible breeders take every precaution possible to screen for hereditary health issues in their breeding dogs. Before committing to buying puppy, we advise all potential buyers to seek out OFA clearances and other evidence of health clearances to ensure that they are getting a puppy that is free of screenable genetically inherited health issues.
